This pattern was created for my grandkids after watching them struggle with using other baby or doll blankets for their pretend play time. They love these sleeping bags—zipping, unzipping, in and out, walking around, and snuggling their dolls and stuffed animals.

• Keep zipped for a regular sleeping bag or unzip to lay flat
• Built-in pillow never gets lost
• Flannel fabric is soft and snuggly
• Separating plastic-toothed zipper is easy to sew.
The quilt piecing instructions are easy to understand and fun to sew. Or use your own pieced design! The lining is a single piece of flannel. Another alternative is to use a large cut of fabric both inside and out.
The attached pillow can be stuffed with leftover batting or a polyfill-type material. Just a few stitches either by hand or machine closes the last opening, and is ready for play.
